Backup / Export my entire notebook
It is starting to feel like my whole life is in Catch. Can you create an ability for me to download a complete local copy of my notebook and keep it in a safe place? I see that Facebook also now allows this: http://lifehacker.com/5657317/how-to-download-your-information-from-facebook
Be able to export my data as a csv and kml. I could graph my data in excel if I could export to a csv and show all my notes on google earth with a .kml.
Your notes are automatically synced and backed up if you sign in to your Catch account. You can also export your notes (although without images) to a .csv file. http://ctch.it/PyDAnq

Hi,
A new request was added - a full export of ALL the data including all the attachments:

I would also like a good way to export my data. When I try to export with html, I cannot get my attached pictures even when you claim the html format specifically can export images.
Also, I am another customer who would love to export single spaces rather than my entire database. I use your journal app with catch, and I need to export my journal without it being mixed in with all of my other notes.

im not able to use catch for any kind of attachments or images, even paying for the service is not the option , this of the lack of a good backup, its to risk for me to lost images e.t.. so catch should consider that.. thanks
btw CSV export does only export the first row of the note?? text?? so you lost a lot.. -

In response to the comment about files being accessible on the SD Card.
While I appreciate the responses by Robin, there are a few points to be noted here:
-> Having attachments openly accessible on the SD card is kind of a security hole. I don't expect rock solid government level security, but having files just browsable is really, really, really insecure.
-> If files are sitting out there with no clear relation to the note that owns them, it does very little good as a backup solution. Is there a way to link them? Maybe I missed that.
-> It would really be good to NOT have everything always synced to the device. These devices can quickly run out of space if they try to keep up with a Catch Pro user syncing up almost a gig of attachments each month. It would be much better to only sync attachments upon demand, and to have an option to not cache them at all beyond the current session. Maybe I misunderstood that comment.
In any case, it is wrong to mark this as "Completed". There is currently no good answer to the question of getting a complete sync of data in Catch including attachments and with link integrity intact.

Neither AK Notepad nor Catch Notes requires you store data
on our servers.(Unfortunately, neither has a particularly effective way
to carry your data when you upgrade to a new device.
AK Notepad has a fairly rudimentary backup/restore
facility that can handle this.)For Catch Notes Android, even if you do sync data to our
server, a copy of every attachment and image is stored
in a directory on your phone. You can use any popular
file-management app to see, copy, and backup these
document files. -

Am I the only one who sees privacy issues with apps like Catch and Evernote? How about an option to store everything locally on my device ONLY. Its funny how these companies never respond when I pose a question regarding privacy. How can I be forced to store online documents that I have taken time to create but can't have a copy to store locally if I choose?

the html export is not working at the moment. it renders,
"Server Error
An internal server error occurred"i have over 2500 notes. only a few dozens attachments.
the csv wasnt tested properly either. the formatting is corrupted. id be happy to send you mine to inspect.
export neednt be fancy, but it does need to work! peace of mind is vital. export is important. its the reason why so many left evernote.

Hmmm. Export is not working properly for me using the web interface. HTML notes don't include attached images. See also: http://catch.uservoice.com/forums/34514-catch-notes/suggestions/3119014-fix-the-broken-html-notes-export
Also, I'd love to see a tag and date specific export function like in these suggestions:
http://catch.uservoice.com/forums/34514-catch-notes/suggestions/1903031-provide-a-more-robust-export-that-includes-date-l
http://catch.uservoice.com/forums/34514-catch-notes/suggestions/2089651-export-specific-tags-onlyStill a long way from a good export.

The whole point of this request is to be able to export WITH images and other attachments. When will that come?

When I export as HTML all I get is the comments I captured with my Compass app in my Droid phone. Ideally, I would like to be able to expand each note and export the comments, photos and map as a PDF. I see some comments that say you get notes + images, but that does not seem to be the case for me. Do you need to have Pro to do this?

Exporting as HTML does not export everything as previously suggested in some comments. You get notes + images. What about Doc files? What about Pdfs? We need a way to export the whole thing with ALL attachments.

There is already a way to backup your notes. Login, click your user name, go to Profiles, then Export, then HTML or CSV (I recommend HTML if you have picture attachments). It then opens a huge page with all your notes that you can then save as PDF, webarchive (very useful for Safari users) or HTML.
For me the problem is that the export chokes on too many notes and does not export all.

Yes, I have about ten hours of a book I'm writing in Catch & I don't see a way to get it into my PC.

I've posted this as a separate suggestion, but I'll comment here too: integration with My Backup Pro would be a great feature.

Backup / Export is absutely necessary for I can sleep at night :) ... like I read "seems my all life is on catch now !".
For the moment, almost all I catch in the app is printed somewhere else and exept recordings, all the pictured item are stored in a drawer somewhere.... my real purpose is to put all in the cloud, to fill my trashcan with old papers and to be able to backup it from time to time on my laptop !
I am happy to see it is flaged as 'started'.

Does anybody know when Catch.com will start export feature? In Android app it exports empty .txt file, in site it is unacceptable.
